Name: Sean Dresden

Age: Late forties

Occupation: RPD Captain

Skill-set: Police officer

Personality: Dresden is a mild personality. He is a natural leader with a strong sense of justice and fair play. He is soft-spoken, diplomatic and kind by nature. He is well-liked by his peers and subordinates, though some can view him as an idealist. He is disciplined and expects this of those he works with, though he would not expect them to do anything he would not be willing to do first. However, because he would do anything in the execution of his duty, this does not let anyone off any hooks.

Would never let someone sacrifice themselves for something if he could do it for them. Consummate professional but the state of Raccoon City lately has been challenging even him. Normally, he has a patience of a saint, but even he won’t stand by a system that lets people suffer. Will always speak out in defence of someone and give them the benefit of the doubt, and won’t permit anyone to behave in a way that is less than human, even when the city is lawless.

Allegiance (if any, e.g. Umbrella): Raccoon Police Department and the citizens of Raccoon City

Appearance: Tall and broad at the shoulders, he is heavily built due to years of training as a police officer. Due to his advancing years, his body is showing signs of age and he does not have the same strength and stamina that he used to, but he lives clean and still maintains a lot of his old routines. He has thick, dark hair, which is slowly going grey, and a thick beard, though this is the first time in his life he has had one, and dark, sad eyes. His features are careworn and thoughtful.

Outfit(s): He has grown used to wearing a suit as an RPD Captain, but kept hold of the majority of his equipment from his days as a Sergeant. When the outbreak occurs in Raccoon, he changes into his old uniform to hit the streets again and defend the people. This consists of navy blue riot gear, black tactical armour, elbow and knee pads and harnesses for his various equipment.

Strengths: Calm and patient with a sound tactical mind. Dresden has been trained with firearms such as semi-automatic pistols and sub-machineguns. He has knowledge of SWAT and Riot Squad procedure. Has had a lot of training, so is physically strong and capable in conflict. He also has a great deal of experience with Raccoon City’s infrastructure and population. He has worked in the city most of his life and knows its streets well. He can lead people and win their trust quickly and easily, because he is innately trustworthy and honest.

Weaknesses: Trusting towards everyone until proven otherwise, and this can prove dangerous in a situation as volatile as Raccoon City. Self-sacrificing, which is bad for obvious reasons. His duty to others will override any instinct for self-preservation. No skill with computers and tends to distrust them. Older, and has been in a political/supervisory position for several years, so he has not had the same physical demands as when he was younger.

Romantic Interest: None. His wife passed away two years previously and he is still in mourning.

Relationship to other OC’s (If OC’s are friends/enemies etc Feel free to speak to other people submitting OC’s!): Ethan Burke is his son. Shak Morgan is like his daughter-in-law, so to speak.

Background: Sean Dresden was born in Chicago, Illinois. His father was also a police officer. He entered the police academy straight after High School and became an officer shortly after. Olivia Burke was a receptionist at the precinct where he was stationed and the two began dating. After a couple of years, they married, but Dresden was involved in an incident where his partner was injured in a shooting. He and his wife decided that Chicago was not the right place to raise a family and moved to Raccoon City.

Dresden had no trouble in securing a job in Raccoon with the RPD, and was promoted to Sergeant under Captain Brian Irons. His wife gave birth to two boys within a couple of years of one another and stayed at home to raise them while Dresden pursued his police career. He took on many different duties, earning the respect and admiration of his peers. Though supportive of his sons, his eldest wanted more from him than just support, and his youngest became a tearaway without his direct supervision.

His wife began to suffer with deteriorating health that was misdiagnosed by a number of doctors until she finally passed away in the early nineties. It was sadly only afterwards that Raccoon City built its state of the art hospital facility. This pushed Dresden and his sons further apart. Dresden himself was heartbroken, and started to lean more into his work than ever before. He finally took a promotion and increased role at the RPD, becoming a Captain.

He used his position to encourage newly elected Chief Brian Irons to take on Shak Morgan as a CQC instructor for the RPD, and continued to reach out to his son. The events of the Arklay Mansion and the worsening state of Raccoon City have made him, for the first time, uncomfortable with his career. Torn between the STARS, with whom he was on good terms, and the official line surrounding the incident, he has begun to question what he knows. In the end, he sees a difference between his career and his job to protect and serve.

Any misc information: Dresden collects military miniatures. The pride of the collection is a Panzer that Burke painted when he was twelve.
